purpose of Tyler Web Sites is multi-fold. It is a place to come for web
site design. Then it's a place to come to look for web sites in Tyler.
And finally, it's Tyler's place to come to read about web site design.

A key purpose of Tyler Web Sites is to use
this channel to develop my personal web design skills. This site is one
such development and I will be designing other sites,
so this site will eventually contain my web design portfolio. Hopefully,
it will be a way of attracting prospective employers in web development.
If I don't attract one, then I'll be able to use this site to build my
own business.

Secondly, Tyler Web Sites is a database of
web sites in Tyler. I am building a directory of all the local area web
sites for locals to be able to look around the neighborhood, and make
contact with people with similar interests.
While search engines like Google and Yahoo are
often useful, a lot of the results are there as a result of skilled entries
in meta tags and such. Although the search engines can be quite useful,
oftentimes, what you end up with are more what people want to
sell you that what you are looking for.
You can use the search option to look for sites
in Tyler available at the top of most pages, and the advanced search
allows you to specify the type of search, the fields to search on, a
categorical search and an option to search by designer.
Lists can be simple or detailed. The simple
lists will include a 
to
the left of the entry, which is a link to the details of the site. In
either case, clicking the name of the web site will open that site in
a separate window. The site window and detail window are both named,
meaning each time you select a new site, it replaces the one in the site
window. Most users won't want 20 separate windows opened.

As might be expected, the name, Tyler
Web Sites lends itself to covering more that just looking at sites and
designers. Talk about the process, the problems and the methods could make
its way into the site in one way or another.
On occasion I will be posting articles about web
site design, maintenance or hosting. Periodically, I would also like to
feature one or more of the local web sites, or review, as best as I can,
the work of area web designers. Using Tyler Web Sites, you can study the
work of the various web design firms in Tyler. There are some professional
web designers in Tyler and I'll be learning from them and their work.
About Me
For those of you who are curious about who came
up with Tyler Web Sites, this is my introduction. I'm Dana Bell. I've been
involved with computing devices since the early 1980's, and computer programming
at the same time. I was involved with telecommunications before the
Internet was opened to the public. Some of you may remember me as the SysOp
(system operator) of Baby Blue BBS.
I'm a commercial printer, a writer and a graphic
designer. I started designing web pages in the 90's, when HTML was pretty
much all there was. I am now an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop and
InDesign, and a Macromedia Certified Dreamweaver developer. More professional
